Arlene Bagga, MD

Board Certified Ophthalmologist

Dr. Bagga is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with 21 years of clinical and surgical practice. She was an Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of New Mexico, as well as an attending physician at the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Administration. In her time at UNM, she was a key surgical mentor for over 100 senior residents in anterior segment surgery, oculoplastics, and ocular trauma. She is also an award-winning teacher and mentor at the community and national level.

With three years as a medical director in pharmaceutical and CRO, she is well-versed in protocol design, implementation and oversight of clinical trials in all stages of development, and the nuances of ophthalmic study design and execution. She enjoys cross-functional collaboration, and global study conduct.

Dr. Bagga is the past-president and executive committee member of the New Mexico Academy of Ophthalmology, former local residency director at UNM, and was the Interim Chief of Ophthalmology at the New Mexico VA. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Leadership Development Program XII, Class of 2010. She is currently earning her MPH at New Mexico State University.

Voted a Top Doc by Albuquerque Magazine since 2007, Dr. Bagga practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a dynamic physician group in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
